How our “double standards” are driving business success and transforming our customer’s communications future.
Intuity Communications have been a trusted provider of voice and data solutions and services for over two decades and we believe the key to our continued success is our ability to quickly respond to technological changes and customer requirements. Our reputation has been built on trust, reliability, technical expertise, agility and responsiveness.
Earlier this year we made the decision to introduce a cybersecurity offering to our portfolio. It’s a natural stepping stone from our voice and data heritage and allows us to continue to service every aspect of our customer’s communication requirements. Cyber-crimes are constantly adapting and becoming more sophisticated and the perpetrators are becoming increasingly astute, using technology to respond quickly. We want to help protect our customers from both financial and reputational damage and minimise the impact, should an attack take place. However, we believe that empathy and outstanding customer service go hand in hand and in order to fully understand how our customers feel about protecting their organisation, we decided to walk in their shoes and we embarked on a journey to become certified in Cyber Essential Plus, ISO9001 (Quality Management Systems) and ISO27001 (Information Security).
Before starting the process, we naively thought it would take a matter of weeks to complete but the reality was very different. We engaged with a Consultancy that specialises in ISO certification and were assigned a consultant who understood us and our business needs. The team worked tirelessly over a period of nine months; documenting and streamlining company processes and creating policies for every aspect of our business, not to mention adapting and upgrading the equipment that underpins our organisation. This is where being a smaller company was in our favour and our agility and ability to respond quickly enabled us to reduce the time frames for some of the areas we needed to develop. By the time we had our second British Standards audit, we had reduced the number of assigned consulting days by a third. You may be wondering, “why fix something that isn’t broken?” And the answer is simple; evolution is key to success and as Charles Darwin once said, “It’s not the strongest or the most intelligent of the species that survives but those who can best manage change”. The outcome; a completely streamlined environment in which to service our customers and a definitive, clear vision for the future of Intuity Communications.
Obtaining British Standards ISO certification demonstrates our commitment to our future. Becoming certified in ISO9001 has altered the day to day performance of Intuity Communications through leaner, more efficient operations and acquiring certification in ISO27001 has deepened our understanding of how and why it is vital for organisations to protect their intellectual property. We have devoted a lot of man-hours to these projects, not to mention the financial commitment but it’s like the gift that keeps on giving. Acquiring these globally recognised certifications has enabled us to compete for and win contracts within the Public Sector, which require ISO certification as standard. Public sector departments are under increasing pressure to deliver an outstanding level of service while ensuring a cost-effective and consistent approach and our ISO certification provides us with an instantly recognisable commitment that is streamlined to their operational needs. But the hard work doesn’t stop there. Both ISO9001 and ISO27001 must be maintained and passing an annual audit is essential to uphold our certification. These standards have been a real game-changer for Intuity Communications and will help to drive our continued success and ultimately, our future growth.
